Wildlife Fact File: 079 Death Ray )

This is a death ray, which literally just came from the very obvious pun, but I've never seen it done before, so. DEATH RAY. It makes electric shocks with its long fin tips and tail like an eel can which, to a world where they haven't discovered electricity, frigging nuts, man. DEATH RAY.

Wildlife Fact File: 076 Sea Cucumber )

I'm well aware this is a nudibranch. I'm not aware what the difference, if any, is between nudibranches, sea cucumber and sea slug. Are sea cucumbers a variety of nudibranch? Is sea slug just another word for sea cucumber? I have no idea, but this is my fantasy world so I do what I want.

This, therefore, is a sea cucumber. They all look like fabulous nudibranches. Tsaythis eat them, but they're incredibly bland and boring. The internet tells me they dry well, so they're used mostly as ship food. They're also eaten fresh when in season, and often pickled to try and impart some sodding flavour into the boring bastards.

Wildlife Fact File: 075 Crystal Frog )

I had the idea of a saltwater amphibian, because that's not a thing that exists in the real world. Why not? Because they breathe through their skin so they need to have pure water. Means when you have frogs in your watercourse, it's really clean water. For a saltwater froggie, then, it's going to need to get the salt out, and so, crystal frog!

The crystal frog lives in the Shallows, cos this is a very unique environment and I need to populate it with creatures. When the tide goes out, it sweats the extremely salty water through its skin where the salt crystallises on its back and forms a protective shell. Then it can hunker down in the damp sand or a puddle until the tide comes back in.
