Character 145

Character 145

I'm probably about to run into my phone's internet cap by uploading this but I DON'T CARE BECAUSE HOLY CRAP I DID IT. One hundred and forty five characters, started last November and finished (amazingly) within the year. I'm so proud *^^* Things I learnt doing this thing: How to draw faces. Just, in general. I mean compare the top ones to the bottom ones. How to render skin, most importantly Raykinian olive skin. EXPRESSIONS. Grins, faces with teeth, closed and squinty eyes, noses on angles, jaws on angles. Childs? I don't know. I don't feel much more comfortable with them than I did at the start. Proportions on faces! Observation skills. Something about metal but honestly I only started looking at that halfway through the top eight. Metal will get a proper going over later, that wasn't the point of this one. LIKENESSES, not necessarily to the reference material (though some do look a lot like their ref) but to the character in my head. The top eight, ironically at the bottom of the picture, are EXACTLY how I picture them in my head. That's the best ANYONE I've ever drawn.

Putting character into a face. That's the biggest thing. Making them look like they are in my head.

HEEEEEEE.

Narti, this is absolutely amazing! You're so good at giving everyone their own personality and features, and it's super awesome (especially considering the sheer number of characters here!) The wrinkles and the hair and the kids look like kids and, wow. You should be super proud of how these all came out!

Some standouts for me are Waratah, Orchid, Keldirande, Sadiqi, Lynnlita... but my favorite is probably Lady Fali or Queen Asera. Holy crap.

We were talking on Facebook the other day about how far everyone had come with their art, and you're absolutely no exception. Your style has evolved and become something your own and yes. Great job!

You worked so so hard on these, narti. I am SO SO proud you for finishing and keeping up with it! <3<3<3 I love having them all together like this too so we can see how much you've improved and ZOMG have you improved. You were good when you began, but the last portraits? ZOMG SO AWESOME YOU ARE SO MUCH AMAZE!

And you worked so so so so hard on them and they're beautiful and ALL THE HEARTS FOR THESE. ALL OF THE HEARTS.

Be! Do! You've learned and grown so much during this challenge. <3 IT IS TOTALLY AMAZEBALLS AND DESERVING OF ALL THE PRIDE. <3<3<3

And also I like the artbook suggestion for these. <3 They're so so good. <3

Man, that's balls cool.

Eeeeee you finished!! <3 <3 Congratulations, hon!

I haven't had much opportunity to comment on these as they came out, but they've often made me go 'ooh' on my periodic returns to LJ this year.

What an amazing tableau of hard work when they're all together like this. I think this deserves to be in an art book form (maybe not with those Blurb bastards mind you) and placed on a very high, proud shelf, no?

*huggles*

*uses the distraction to steal Nolly and runs for it*
