Exactly Different v6

Well, this one's been a long time coming. Version 5 was way back in 2007, so I've kinda missed two years of this progress shot. Also, first Photoshopped Exactly Different since 2005, and man oh MAN have I come a long way in Photoshop since then. So yeah, the traditional 'how's Annarti going?' picture of my girlies showing how different but also identical they are.
Entirely different composition from previous years, because frankly there's only so much improvement you can see when they're just... standing there. Doing nothing. So now they're sitting admiring Nimay's sword with absolutely no magic visible for some reason *shrug* And they're in Kazin! Because. They are. *points at Tarnish* Probably where it's warming up a bit, because Yamin's not gripping her cloak around her body and burying her nose in her scarf, and Nimay's not hugely fussed about having bare arms. Kazinian winter clothes are fun :D
So! Improvements from last time, and the last digital attempt (and even from the last, what, three months?):
Posing! Which has all come from ref shots of myself sitting on the floor, but still. More adventurous than just standing there.
Background! I wasn't attempting them three years ago, hell no. Unless it was a halfarsed gradient desert, which hardly counts. I know what I'm doing with the things now, making them more like scenes the characters are actually a part of, rather than just something to take up white space. This bg probably took about as long as each of the girlies :D
FACES! omg faces. Yamin less so, but I can't figure out what's making her not like Yamin. 'May, tho, LOVE. THAT is Nimay, ladies and gents. Sharp cheekbones, long, pointy nose and chin, bit of a cheeky grin but proud of her sword... yeah that's my girl <3 Why can I draw her but not 'Min? Something here is amiss.
Lineart! It's gone. Thank god for that. It was clearly a hindrance.
Colours! No longer stupidly oversaturated. Nimay's original skintone especially was just stupidly bright. More natural-looking now. Also, figured out how to shade with blue/purple.
Texture! Not created with Photoshop filters but with the brush, ooh. I had fun with the wool of Yamin's clothes, all fluffy and warm~
... Woo :D Also yes, Yamin is wearing Crows hat, scarf and mittens. We don't know why. The Crows are playing like utter shit this year.

The posing is amazing. I love it. I adore the bottom of Nimay's boot.
I think your problem with Yamin's face is that her cheeks look rounded and chubby rather than thin and gaunt. But it's still a lovely face <33
difhdign This is just GORGEOUS honey <3

Yamin's face just wouldn't work properly .-. Shadows kept making her look grey and sick and her jaw and lips kept sticking out and arg. Maybe I'll fix it later, but I doubt it. Coloured it twice already. (Remember the power cut? Photoshop wiped all my colouring on 'min :DDDDD So I was back to where I showed you the flats :DDDDD Even though I'd saved it when I'd coloured everything but the boots :DDDDD Dress-mark-two looks better, but cloak-mark-one was awesome and is now lost forever, alas.)
... I'm babbling on this picture far too much for what it is XD;

My god the perspective is awesome <3 HOW DO YOU DO THAT?! The posing is just gorgeous, the everything... @_@ I don't even know where to start. You're zooming ahead of me and Sallie. XD
I am in love with Nimay.
