Emon Character Reference

I was going to stick the whole Own up together once I'd done them all, but have since decided it makes more sense to talk about them each individually first, then I can throw them all together at the end and they'll look cool. I'm drawing them all sitting down as if they're at the pub, because I feel I can get better character into a seated pose than a standing one; it fits the space on the page better and; I think they'll look neat in a lineup at the end :D So all these outfits will be like their smart-casual, going to the pub attire, pretty standard fare for the lot of 'em. It says how they want to be seen by the public, because they're all in the public eye, whether they want to be or not.
Swords in general have been redesigned to be more scimitar-like with a curved blade, mostly due to watching enough YouTube videos from Schola Gladiatora where he's saying how awesome curved blades are, and also to give them that more Middle Eastern kind of Arabic vibe. Which, I mean, I've long since dropped that idea for Raykinian culture but, in the absence of any bladed weapons from Indigenous culture, Middle Eastern still fits better than European-ish (or, in that same vein, Asian) swords. More specifically, I'm pretty much starting them all from scratch, too, to better fit the characters now I know who they are and am not a 20-year-old just wanting to design some cool swords.
Finally, the makakis will probably largely retain the markings of the old horses, though some will be slightly rejigged to match the markings of existing marsupials, just to reinforce that marsupial aspect of them. This will only be if there's an existing marsupial that's pretty close to the original colouring, otherwise they'll stay the same.
So here's Emon [original design here], the pessimistic, wet blanket of the Own. He's missing the pinkie of his left hand and probably has more scars than I've given him (ie none) but I'm on my laptop at Mum and Dad's right now so don't have the means to retroactively add any. Anyway. Emon's always very well put-together, always neat and clean, usually with patterning on his shirts and often some jewellery, which will have been given to him by his girlfriend who lives in Ni-Mythaa. He usually goes for linen or cotton garments with silk detailing, comfortable but expensive, and always in fashion. Emon is scared that at any moment the next challenger will beat him and take his place in the Own, so he doesn't mind spending his money while he's still earning it just in case it all comes crashing down. He's reinforcing to himself, yes, he does belong here and yes, he has earned this money. Hasn't worked but he keeps trying anyway. Maybe one day it'll stick (it won't).
SWORD No longer that poisonous dragonfly I haven't designed in 17 years and is instead sleek and efficient, but still flashy and Own-y because
SUGAR II Previously pale terracotta with white mane and socks, now mimicing the markings of a red kangaroo cos it's not far off. Except that Sugar II is a mare and these are the markings of a male red, but shuddup it's my world and I'll do what I want to. She's even lounging like a kangaroo :D Female makakis will always lounge like this, on their sides, never on their bellies like a camel, because they have a pouch.

Bet there's whispers he only has the sword he has because if he does get kicked out, it'll be worth more to sell. idk.

I like the extra options for decoration that little notchy bit gives me :D Curved blades are FUN.
