Assili Character Reference

SO much detail. Damn you, Kazin. Still got Shizaaqa to go, too, though she'll at least not have the winter or Llayan stuff to wear. Assili doesn't get a nude because I'm not posting child nudity on the internet :D
CASUAL Short cotton batik sarong and matching halterneck with a bit of cloth of gold embelishment, because cotton is comfortable and breathes well, and Assili likes to be comfortable.. Kazin, like Indonesia, is very big on their batik, and any depicting peacocks, such as this, is restricted to royalty. Assili particularly likes stuff in her Family Colours of orange/red, gold or green, so here's red. Makeup I finally now have the guts to do far more outlandish as I've always imagined Kazin to be so, for Assili's casual look, it's just paint; no extra embelishments like feathers or jewels stuck to her face. The frog brooch climbing up her Colours there is a 12th birthday present from Kanera, which she wears a lot.
FANCY Apparently I didn't give her earrings on any of these outfits, whoops. Maybe I'll rectify that.Anyway, fancy! Copious Kazinian silk gauze, again in Family Colours of gold and red, and with feathers on the skirt at the back. This thing is made to be sat in, because she's the crown princess and stands for nobody (except the empress but that's not happening). Assili likes jewellery which shows off the craftsperson's skill, especially metalwork, rather than going for the big impress of big feathers. Feathers as makeup is serious artistry, though, so she'll take that.
CEREMONIAL MOHAWK. I had to do it somewhere. Also, shitton of feathers which would doubtless be overheating and uncomfortable but, y'know, Tradition. This outfit is not made to be comfortable but it IS impressive. It comes up for mostly religious ceremonies. The hardest bit to figure out with all of these was the waistline and how to elegantly finish off a sarong there. Also also, have to point out here how pleased I am with her knobbly little knees.
WINTER Her face is nude! :O So this is after she flees Assiraz with the Raykinians and ends up in the mountains in the middle of autumn. It's not THAT cold, really, but this girl has never left tropical Kazin before, where the temperature fluctuates between about 28 and 35 degrees, so suddenly plunge her into ~18 and the poor child is FREEZING. So she gets some nice fluffy layering, topped off with an amazing fur-lined coat. The problem in basing your empire off of South-East Asia is that there's really nowhere cold enough to have traditional cold weather clothes. I spent a lot of time trying to winterise sarongs, or playing with Vietnamese wedding coat things. This is why I didn't give Yamin a coat on her Kazinian outfit, because I had no idea how to do one. Whatever I did kept looking too Western, until Sallie pointed out some fabulous Tibetan people. PERFECT. So winter Kazin is now somewhat Tibetan inspired, especially the turned-up toe of the boots, the way the coat crosses the chest like that, and the sash/kilt/thing down the front.
LLAYAN Frills and lace and hella boots. SO goddamn Llayan. She's also empress by this point and, in the absence of any golden heart peacocks, she gets the Llayans to stick their most impressive feathers onto her circlet, which means ostrich feathers. They'll do until she gets home. Still a bit of a Kazinian feel, with the dress-over-pants dealie, but omg so Llayan. Even her makeup is restrained and Llayan. This is all made from felted wool because, again, cold Kazinian is cold, poor love.
