Nol wings :D Why is he shirtless? Why is anyone? Because I was proud of how his chest came out in the sketch and didn't want to cover it up with a shirt. Duh. Also pleased with it, and his arm and hand, when rendered. Look at that hand. Damn, that's a good hand.

Also, fire wings! I've had this sort of swirly, stylised fire in mind for YEARS, like, since before I decided yrae feathers were the way to go rather than stones. It was originally to be more aligned with the royal insignia, but that's all tied in now to Yan's feather, which has these swirlies linked together in a feather shape. Nol's fire has never been literal fire, so it's swirly and magical and like Yan's feather and his royal insignia and ~*symbolism*~ and such. Looks great in my head, rendering it was a Task. Still not sure it's quite there but it's not bad. The challenge is in making them look... real is thr wrong word. But not flat. Like, normally to give something dimension, you shade it. But it's fire. It IS the light source, doesn't have shadows, so trying to make it have dimension was HARD. In the end, I made it denser up around the 'bones' then looser towards the ends, which I think works. I'll probably play with it more down the line, but for a first rendering outside of the closeup where it was more background, this gets the idea across.

I love love love the blue glow caught on his clothes and side of his face. SO GOOD.
